This is just a passing thing. I’m in a really bad mood over the all the hullabaloo concerning the budget crisis. If it isn’t bad enough we have someone in a position of authority making a mockery of the crisis by laughing…and posturing…yet again.
You may have noticed this in the news: At least seven nude protesters stormed House Speaker John Boehner’s office in Ohio. Click for Story They were protesting cuts to HIV/AIDS funding that is possible as part of the fiscal cliff negotiations.
That would have been interesting to see…and it makes me happy to share.
Personally, I get riled when I hear Social Security and Medicare being lumped into “entitlements”.
Entitlement: the act of entitling…duh.
If I’m not entitled to my Social Security then give me back ALL of the money I’ve paid into it for over thirty years. Give my husband back the money he’s paid into it for over forty years. No wait…didn’t you use that money? I’ve heard it alleged that the government has for decades pilfered the money intended to pay Social Security benefits and spent it as general revenue.
So I spent a little time this morning sending letters to my Ohio senators. It doesn’t take long. If you are sick of all the posturing and nonsense going on in Washington, then fill up their mailboxes. Let them know!

In addition, give back the money all the small business employers paid into Social Security and give me back the HOURS I spent calculating payroll. Ridiculous! But YES stuff those mail boxes, melt those phone lines. Be intelligent and respectful but point out very clearly WHY this is such a bad idea. When the citizens stand together so much can be done.
