I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve updated my blog. I did, however, post comments on the www.butterscotchmartinigirls.com blog the last two Mondays.
We did it. We sold our beautiful home and moved across country in the caravan from hell. And we made it in three days.
And here we are…in dreary Ohio…sitting in a motel as we play a waiting game to get into the Victorian. Who knew water in a second floor bathroom could cascade uninterrupted all the way to the basement? I once had in mind a story about a heroine living in a dilapidated Victorian, and now I’m living it. Be careful of what you put into the universe!
Not that I’m a heroine. Heroines don’t whine. And I’m shriveled into a ball, sucking my thumb and whimpering.
On the good side, we have a new furnace and central air. The heat works just fine. I imagine I’ll have to wait a good long time to find out about the air-conditioning. It’s been cold and rainy here. Dismal and gray.
Our queen-sized box-springs won’t fit up the stairway. There’s a door upstairs in one of the bedrooms off the porch and Mike says he’s going to try to get it up there over the roof. I’d better call and check on him. I haven’t heard from him for awhile.
Yesterday, we had a few of the rooms rewired and as I laid on the couch with my feet propped up on Mike, trying to contain Parker (14 months and into everything)…we heard a snap coming from the newly finished receptacle. This doesn’t bode well for the future.
Today we’re using our last juncture in the fuse box (technical speak) to run a line from the kitchen to support a microwave. Mike’s overseeing the work while I help Tiff who is sick with the flu. I’m envisioning a plug right where the new cupboards are going in the future. Oh well, in the scheme of things, that’s not a big deal.
Maria will be pleased to know we possibly have a ghost. The day we moved in things were flying through the air and crashing all around me. I have a full-length mirror on a pedestal that has a hidden compartment for jewelry (Yes, I have it. I just don’t wear it.)
that crashed to the floor. The mirror didn’t break, TG. Wouldn’t want to add another seven years to the sentence I’ve already imposed on us by buying the friggin’ house!
I found my camera yesterday so I’ll start taking pictures.
Oh yeah!

Hey, Brit. Sounds like you have your hands full. Ghosts? Just think of all the story ideas that can come from things that go bump in the night.
Can’t wait to see some pictures of your house and Ohio!
Hang in there. Things will get better!
